Judo Western Australia (Inc.) - Judo Youth Identification Camp

Hi all,

By now I hope that you are all in the swing of things and that your training is on schedule.

Things are happening on a national front as regards the identification of our younger athletes especially with a view towards the 2012 Olympics in Manchester.

A national youth identification coach, Mr Pascal Giraud, has been appointed by the JFA (Inc.) to this position and it is his role to discover and develop the next generation for London 2012 (15 to 19 years old).

I quote his request:

"Dear Carlo,

It will be good to see all your athletes who will be interested by this programme from your state.

I would like to see the athlete in different way
(e.g. Fitness level, judo skill [technique, Randori but also shiai]).

So it will be good to invite all WA clubs, WA squads (Y Men & Y Women and 15 to 19),
and WA coaches (national, states, club level) from your state.

Because may be there are some judokas, we don't know. And it is important all
clubs and coaches from your state know about this camp and this programme.

We have not many weekends, because we will have the Initial Identification
Camp in AIS - Canberra starting the 16th to 21st April.
I have your calendar front of me, and I can see the competition on
Saturday 24th March (WA - State Championships).

It will be good to organize after this event two judo sessions on Sunday 25th March
Morning and afternoon what ever the place.

It will be good also to have a seminar between a break
(e.g. coaching at this age, and what I expect for athlete and coaches)

You can bring some WA athletes who leave far from Perth.
Let me know f you think it is suitable and thank to organize this camp.

Regards,
Pascal Giraud
JFA Inc. National Development Coach/Coordinator"

Mr. Pascal is an expert in youth development and this is an excellent opportunity for the advancement of judo in our state.

I urge you all to enter your eligible players into the state trials and to attend the following day event.

The venue and times for the weekend activities will be announced soon. In the meantime it is important for all clubs to make their players aware of the training on Sunday 25 March.

Pascal has indicated that it will be acceptable to include boys and girls from 13 up to 21 years of age in the training.

It will also be a great opportunity for all coaches to don their gi and assist Pascal in his endeavours!

Best wishes.
