Judo Western Australia (Inc.) - National Talent Identification Results

08 April 2007

On Sunday the 25th of March, Judo WA welcomed National NTID coach Pascal Giraud to Perth.

Pascal worked with some 20 of Judo WA's juniors between the ages of 15 and 22 during a full day of fitness assessment and several Randori and technique training sessions. Click here to read the earlier announcement for this event.

The idea was to select our best players to attend a special training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport during the Easter holiday break.

We are now happy to be able to report that two of our young women and one young man have been successful in securing a training place for this prestigious opportunity.

Congratulations to Darcina Manuel and Ruby Bellingham, both of Kano Judo Schools, and Sean Klimek of Judo International.

Unfortunately, our male candidates were facing very strong competition, and although some showed remarkable potential for future development and potential selection to a subsequent camp, including Sean Klimek who made it to the position of 1st reserve and subsequently got invited to attend the training, the national competition from the other states and territories proved to be too fierce in this round.

We wish them all best of success in a following round. Keep up the good work and keep up the training.
Remember Pascal's words.... 10 to 12 hours of Judo training per week minimum.

In addition Gabby Clark of the University of Western Australia Judo Club as well as Charles Kobelke of Midland PCYC have also been successful to secure a place for the senior's camp earlier during the last week in March.

Well done to you all.
