Judo WA is proud to announce the opportunity for enthusiastic and skilled individuals to apply for the roles of State Coaches, Assistant State Coaches, State Managers, and Assistant State Managers for the upcoming 2024 National Championships. This is your chance to play a key role in shaping the success of our team.
State Coach and Assistant State Coach Positions
State Coach Requirements & Responsibilities
- Holders of the ‘Senior Coach’ qualification under Judo Australia’s Coaching Accreditation Framework.
- Responsible for leading and coordinating the Assistant State Coaches.
- Collaborate and liaise with Judo WA Staff in preparation for the Nationals.
- Oversee the overall training and strategic planning for the team.
- Attend at and coordinate state training sessions;
- Improve and maintain the competition preparedness of the team members;
- Understand and be able to follow draw systems in order to understand players’ progression through competition;
- Assist with pre-fight warm-ups and collaborate with the coaching team to ensure all players have a mat-side coach;
- Provide mat-side support and coaching for players; and
- Perform any other ad hoc tasks required to be performed in relation to the State Team.
Assistant State Coach Requirements & Responsibilities
- Must possess the ‘Coach Judo’ qualification from Judo Australia’s Coaching Accreditation Framework.
- Support the State Coach in all aspects of training and competition preparation.
- Engage in tactical planning and execution during training and at the Championships.
- Active involvement in state team training sessions.
- Focus on enhancing competition readiness and team performance.
- Manage on-site coaching and player support during the event.
State Manager and Assistant State Manager Positions
State Manager Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Assistant State Managers.
- Primary point of contact and liaison with Judo WA Staff for event preparation.
- Ensure the distribution of accreditations to athletes at the beginning of the event;
- Work with coaches to ensure players are on track to make weight (be present at trial weigh-ins – especially with juniors), be present at official weigh-ins;
- Attend the manager’s meeting and draw;
- Record appropriate information to pass to coaches/players;
- Ensure entries are correct for all players, make any weight division changes, and check names are correct;
- Obtain copies of draw for coaching staff;
- Assist coaches with following draws and monitoring when/where players are required; and
- Perform any other ad hoc tasks required to be performed in relation to the State Team.
Assistant State Manager Responsibilities
- Assist the State Manager in logistical and administrative duties.
- Ensure the distribution of accreditations to athletes at the beginning of the event;
- Work with coaches to ensure players are on track to make weight (be present at trial weigh-ins – especially with juniors), be present at official weigh-ins;
- Attend the manager’s meeting and draw;
- Record appropriate information to pass to coaches/players;
- Ensure entries are correct for all players, make any weight division changes, and check names are correct;
- Obtain copies of draw for coaching staff;
- Assist coaches with following draws and monitoring when/where players are required; and
- Perform any other ad hoc tasks required to be performed in relation to the State Team.
Personal Coach Positions
As a Personal Coach, you have no specific requirements with regards to the attendance at the remaining state training sessions or in relation to the competition preparedness of the team members. However, it is expected that where possible, you will support the WA Coaching Team at the event. For example, by providing mat-side support and coaching for other members of the State Team, where doing so does not impact your ability to coach the athletes whom you have been provided a Personal Coach accreditation for.
