Judo Australia Coaching Accreditation Framework
Judo Australia has a 4-tiered Coach Accreditation Framework (CAF), designed to deliver effective coach development at all levels in Australia.
The Level 1: Assistant Coach accreditation is managed at a club level and the Level 4: Advanced Senior Coach accreditation is managed at a National level by Judo Australia. JudoWA runs two annual practical courses for each of the Level 2: Coach Judo and Level 3 Senior Coach courses.

The Assistant Coach course is delivered at a club level. Please consult your club coach regarding this qualification.
This full-day course is designed for new and existing Coaches to gain or update their accreditation. Specific information regarding the course can be found in the Judo Australia CAF Coach Judo Program document downloadable below.
PRE-REQUISITES
- 18 years of age minimum
- First Aid qualification
- Working with Children Check clearance
- Ability to develop and implement a session plan

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Completed lesson plan to teach a tachiwaza or newaza skill (to be handed in).
- Completed game-based activity plan (to be handed in).
- Completed application form (to be handed in).
All coaches will need to fully participate on the day(s). This will include demonstration in the technical component.
The Senior Coach is a 2-day program comprising of mainly practical/hands on coaching activities, with some theory. The Senior Coach course content includes: teaching and Learning concepts, an introduction to basic periodisation and season planning, physiology, introduction to and communication of basic sports science principles, development and correction of skills and fitness, and risk management.

PRE-REQUISITES
- Held Coach Judo accreditation for minimum 12 months
- Those who have completed an IJF Academy Coaching course are exempt.
- 18 years of age minimum
- 50 hours coaching in past 12 months
- First Aid qualification
- Working with Children Check clearance
- Minimum grade shodan (black belt)
- Ability to demonstrate and teach the basic skills of Nage-no-kata

- Ensure you complete both the ‘Child Protection and Harassment’ and ‘Discrimination’ modules.
- Intermediate Coaching Principles Modules (Click Here)
- Note that this pre-requisite incurs a $175 fee.
- Note also that completion of this pre-requisite involves completing a number of worksheets and may take up to 1 month to complete depending on your time commitment. That being said, you may attend the practical coaching session without having completed this pre-requisite. However, your accreditation will not be confirmed until you supply JudoWA with a certificate of completion for the Intermediate Coaching Principles course.
