Team WA Claims 17 Medals at 2026 Canberra International Open

The 2026 Canberra International Open, a key event in Judo Australia’s National Event Series, was held from 13–15 February 2026 in Goulburn, NSW. Team WA delivered another standout showing against strong national competition, returning home with 8 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals — 17 podium finishes in total.

Gold Medalists

  • BAIRD Angus (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Men / -90 kg
  • D’ORAZIO Francesca (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Women / -63 kg
  • KELLY Oren (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Women / -57 kg
  • NAVEA Zechariah (Perth Judo Club) – Cadet Men / -55 kg
  • OCHI Keishin (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Men / -81 kg
  • SIBONI Mia (Perth Judo Club) – Cadet Women / -52 kg
  • TOYOSHIMA Kohsei (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Men / -73 kg
  • WONG Danny (UWA Judo Club) – Veteran Men M1 to M8 / -66 kg

  • KELLY Oren (UWA Judo Club) – Junior Women / -57 kg
  • READ Jacob (SouthWest Judo Academy) – Senior Men / -60 kg
  • TOURNIER Maelie (UWA Judo Club) – Junior Women / -52 kg
  • TOURNIER Maelie (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Women / -57 kg

Bronze Medalists

  • AIZIKOV Roman (Curtin Elite Judo Club) – Cadet Men / -73 kg (3rd)
  • KELLY Kaian (UWA Judo Club) – Junior Men / -60 kg
  • POLANKAI Hugo (UWA Judo Club) – Senior Men / -90 kg
  • TOURNIER Chloe (UWA Judo Club) – Cadet Women / -57 kg

With the Canberra International Open complete, many of our athletes are now staying on to participate in the Randori Camp from 16–18 February at the Australian Institute of Sport, before backing up again at the 2026 Sydney International Open the following weekend. These back-to-back opportunities are a major part of building competition readiness and accelerating athlete development through high-quality match exposure.

Congratulations to all athletes, coaches, and supporters on a fantastic event — Team WA is building strong momentum as we head into the next phase of the national calendar.
