Following the conclusion of the 2025 Judo National Championships, Judo Australia hosted a special edition of its J-Girls Camp on Monday, 9 June, celebrating and empowering the next generation of female judoka across the country.

Held at the Gold Coast Sport & Leisure Centre, the session brought together approximately 50 female participants from across Australia for a day of training, inspiration, and connection. The camp is part of Judo Australia’s broader commitment to fostering female participation and leadership within the sport.

WA was proudly represented both on and off the mat. Among the J-Girls Ambassadors leading the session was WA’s own Saya Middleton, who had just claimed gold in the Senior Women -70kg division at the National Championships. Her presence as a leader and role model for the younger generation made the event especially memorable for our WA girls in attendance.

Several young female judoka from Western Australia participated in the camp, taking the opportunity to learn from top athletes, connect with peers from across the country, and further develop their judo in a supportive, all-female environment.

The J-Girls initiative continues to play a valuable role in building community and confidence among young female athletes—and WA remains committed to ensuring our girls are supported every step of the way in their judo journey.
