2023 WA FUTURES CAMP
Dates: 24-26 November 2023
Location: Ern Halliday Recreation Camp, Hillarys, WA
The inaugural 2023 WA Futures Camp was a groundbreaking success, bringing together young judoka from across Western Australia for an action-packed weekend of training, learning, and fun. This camp, delivered in collaboration with Judo Australia, provided participants with top-tier coaching, valuable insights into high-performance pathways, and unforgettable memories.
CAMP HIGHLIGHTS
- Elite Coaching: The camp was led by Ivica Pavlinic, the Performance Hub Coach in NSW and one of Judo Australia’s Under 18s National Coaches. A former international competitor with appearances at World Championships, Grand Slams, and Grand Prix events, Ivica shared his vast experience and knowledge with our young athletes.
- Comprehensive Training: Over three days, participants engaged in multiple judo training sessions that focused on technical development, competition skills, and physical conditioning.
- Educational Sessions: Athletes attended lectures on goal setting, transitioning from junior to cadet levels, and understanding the high-performance pathways within the sport.
- Fun and Bonding: The camp balanced intense training with enjoyable social activities, including two movie nights, free time for games, and group meals in a relaxed setting.
- Accessibility: By hosting the camp locally, we broke down barriers for our WA athletes, providing them with exposure to high-level coaching without the expense of interstate travel.
The camp was an incredible experience! I learned so much from the coaches and made new friends along the way.
