The accolades for Judo WA continue to pour in as we are thrilled to announce the selection of two of our exceptional judoka to represent Australia at the 2023 Abu Dhabi World Championships Kata in the United Arab Emirates from the 28-29 October.

The World Championships Kata is a prestigious event that attracts the crème de la crème of kata practioniers from around the world.

Representing Australia in the Ju-No-Kata category will be:

  • Simon Read from SouthWest Judo Academy.
  • Melissa Dennehy from UWA Judo Club.

This dynamic duo will take the tatami, showcasing the depth and breadth of their training in the traditional forms of judo. The Ju-No-Kata is a particularly intricate and elegant form of kata, and we have complete confidence that Simon and Melissa will uphold the high standards of WA and Australia.

It’s not just about competing; the journey to reach this prestigious stage is a result of unwavering perseverance, commitment, and countless hours of practice. Both Simon and Melissa exemplify the spirit of judo and embody the values of discipline, respect, and continuous improvement.

As they head off to Abu Dhabi, we encourage our Judo WA community, fans, and supporters to join us in cheering them on, sending positive vibes, and celebrating this remarkable milestone.
