Integrity and the Judo Moral Code

Sport brings people together and provides physical, social and economic benefits. It is critical that we keep judo safe and fair for everyone who participates.

Threats to sports integrity include illicit drug use, doping, competition manipulation and behaviours that impact people’s positive experience of sport, such as discrimination or abuse.

Integrity in sport means athletes, supporters and fans can participate and celebrate sport, confident they are part of a safe, fair and inclusive environment.

Judo WA takes integrity seriously

All our members and participants have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of sport, as well as the health and wellbeing of people who participate. Judo Western Australia works closely with Sport Integrity Australia, the national agency established to protect sport against integrity threats.

As the state governing body for judo in Western Australia, Judo WA is affiliated with Judo Australia and the International Judo Federation. Judoka worldwide are guided by the Judo Moral Code.

Judo Moral Code

The Judo Moral Code sets forth eight core principles that shape a judoka’s behaviour both on and off the mat:

National Integrity Framework

The National Integrity Framework is a suite of policies which set out rules for unacceptable behaviour in our sport and how complaints about breaches of these rules are managed. Judo Australia operates under the National Integrity Framework, and Judo WA adopts and promotes these standards across our affiliated clubs and members.

All alleged breaches in relation to the National Integrity Framework and associated integrity policies are managed under the Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy.
