The 2025 OTP Bank World Senior Judo Championships are officially underway in Budapest, Hungary, running from 13–19 June, with the prestigious Teams Event to follow on 20 June. The world’s best judoka have converged on the Hungarian capital, with 556 athletes from 93 nations battling it out for world titles.

Among the four Australian representatives is Western Australia’s very own Maria Swan from UWA Judo Club, who is set to compete on Wednesday, 18 June in the Women’s Under 78kg division. Currently ranked 42nd in the world, Maria enters a field of 33 international judoka, receiving a first-round bye before taking on Metka Lobnik of Slovenia in the Round of 32.

The action will begin around 4:00 PM AWST, and fans can follow all the matches live on JudoTV.

Judo WA is incredibly proud to see Maria stepping onto the world stage, and we wish her the very best as she takes on some of the world’s top athletes. We also extend our support to her teammates Tinka Easton, Aoife Coughlan, and Katharina Haecker, who will also be flying the flag for Australia throughout the week.

Good luck, Maria – all of WA is behind you!
