On Sunday, 17 August, Judo Ryu Western Australia delivered the 2025 Judo Ryu Judo Championships at the Hilton PCYC. The event brought together just under 100 judoka from across the state, with athletes competing in approximately 50 divisions in a spirited day of competition.

The Championships once again highlighted the strength of WA’s judo community, showcasing athletes of all ages and levels in an atmosphere of camaraderie, respect, and determination. With dozens of divisions across the day, competitors had the chance to put their training into practice and gain valuable experience on the tatami.

In addition to providing athletes with a competitive platform, the event also played an important role in referee development. The Championships served as a training ground for Judo WA’s Green Shirt Beginner Referee Program, where young and aspiring referees gained hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced officials. This initiative continues to build the foundation for the future of refereeing in WA.

Judo WA extends its congratulations to all athletes who competed and thanks the dedicated team of volunteers and organisers whose efforts ensured the smooth delivery of the Championships. Events like these are made possible through their commitment and passion for judo.
