Jacob Read
Community Engagement Officer

Judo Western Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of Cody Robinson as our new Operations Officer.

Cody joins the organisation with an impressive mix of communications, project coordination, and event delivery experience, combined with over a decade of active involvement in judo. A brown belt (1st Kyu) and long-time volunteer at Judo WA events, Cody has contributed across multiple areas of the sport – from event photography and scoreboard operation to competition support – giving him a strong understanding of the judo community and its values.

Professionally, Cody has worked in both the public and private sectors, most recently with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) as a Communications and Project Support Officer. He brings excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills developed through roles in science communication, customer relations, and government projects, as well as experience writing for Scitech’s Particle WA platform.

The recruitment process for this role was conducted with the utmost integrity and transparency. Following several interviews with shortlisted candidates, Cody was selected as the successful applicant.

The interview panel comprised:

  • Andras Berta, Director – Judo WA

  • Jacob Read, CEO – Judo WA

  • Matt Bamford, Member & Partnerships Manager – SportWest (serving as an independent representative)

In his role, Cody will support the delivery of programs, events, and regional initiatives across Western Australia, working closely with clubs, volunteers, and committees to strengthen engagement and participation throughout the judo community.

Cody can be contacted at cody@judowa.org.au.

Please join us in welcoming Cody to the Judo WA team!
