Judo Western Australia is pleased to highlight a special international training opportunity this December and January, as UWA Judo Club hosts Komazawa High School (Japan) as part of a long-standing Japanese judo exchange that dates back more than 30 years. This enduring relationship reflects the deep cultural and technical ties between Western Australian judo and the Japanese judo community—built on mutual respect, shared learning, and the values that underpin the sport.

Over the festive and New Year period, UWA Judo Club has generously opened its doors to all Judo WA members at no cost, inviting participants to train alongside athletes from Komazawa High School. These sessions offer a rare chance for local judoka to experience authentic Japanese training methods, gain exposure to different approaches on the tatami, and welcome visiting athletes and coaches to Western Australia.

Judo WA congratulates UWA Judo Club on continuing this proud tradition and thanks them for extending the opportunity to the wider WA judo community. Exchanges such as this play an important role in athlete development, cultural connection, and strengthening our relationship with the birthplace of judo. We encourage eligible members to take advantage of this unique festive training opportunity and help give our Japanese guests a warm Western Australian welcome on the tatami.
