The Western Australian judo community came together for another successful day of inter-club competition at the 2026 AIJ Open Tournament on Sunday, 5 July.
Hosted by the Australian Institute of Judo, the tournament attracted 89 judoka representing 10 clubs from across Western Australia. The strong turnout reflected the enthusiasm of the local judo community and provided athletes with another valuable opportunity to test their skills in competition.
Throughout the day, competitors of different ages and experience levels stepped onto the tatami to represent their clubs. For many participants, the tournament offered an important opportunity to gain competitive experience, put their training into practice and continue their development alongside judoka from across the state.
Inter-club tournaments such as the AIJ Open play an important role in the Western Australian competition calendar. In addition to supporting athlete development, they bring together competitors, coaches, officials, volunteers, families and supporters from throughout the judo community.
Judo WA congratulates all 89 judoka who participated and acknowledges the coaches, referees, volunteers and families who supported the competitors throughout the event.
